Ellen HOSTEN
DESIGN ENGINEER
1st August 2005 : My first working day at VYNCKE and also my first day as an Industrial Engineer.
I was very exited: my own desk, a brand new computer… ready to make fire!
Fire of 1200°C, with high efficiency, costs as low as possible and respecting the environmental and emission standards.
As a Design Engineer I am responsible for the final design of the assigned projects.
A lot of people are involved in the development of such a project: during the sales phase the concept is determined. Once the project is sold, we work out the best solution for our customer, together with the Project Manager and the Design Department in Belgium and the Czech Republic.
I have the opportunity to go on site in Belgium or abroad to gather information about the installation and the operation of a new component or to gather feedback of an installation that is already in use. Sometimes I travel to the Czech Republic to work closer together with my Czech colleagues.
I work together with all kinds of people: of different ages, with different experiences and specialties and with different nationalities.
In the beginning it is not easy to determine your own specialization. But very soon, I had the opportunity to specialize in the world of the design standards. I am now responsible to steer things in the right direction within the design department. I like my job; it gives me satisfaction to design things in the approved manner and according to the prevailing standards and to know which laws and standards apply in different countries.
Like our boss always says: You spent the most beautiful years of your life and the most beautiful hours of the day at your work, so it’s important to have a job you like and enjoy.
I enjoy working at VYNCKE because of the nice atmosphere and the many after work activities such as: the ping pong contest, the yearly sport happening of the companies in Harelbeke, the Ladies Night….
