VYNCKE was established in 1912 by Louis VYNCKE. Through four generations of VYNCKE family members, the company has grown from strength to strength relying on each family members' unique abilities. Today, spread globally the company is being transformed by the latest VYNCKE owners, Peter and Dieter, to handle the challenges of today's complex world.

In 1912 Louis VYNCKE settled as a blacksmith in the town of Gullegem.

By the 1920’s the local flax industry in Flanders, on the wave of new industrialized methods of production, started to flourish. This brought a large demand for steam boilers to produce energy for the process of removing the flax fibers from their stalks. Louis introduced his skills as a blacksmith to build and repair those riveted boilers. As coal was expensive, the boilers in the region were adapted to burn the straw waste from the flax manufacturing process. And so VYNCKE had entered the bioenergy market long before Global Warming and Kyoto were to become common words.

In the postwar era, flax waste became the raw material for the panel board industry in Flanders. While the flax industry moved into the panel industry, VYNCKE followed its Customers and supplied their boilers.

In 1956 the second generation, headed by Louis’s son Michel VYNCKE, moved to Harelbeke to a new office and factory of which the original buildings are still part of our company today. Michel built upon the success of his father making VYNCKE an enviable reference in the boiler manufacturing business across the West Flanders and North France regions.

When Michel tragically passed away in 1972 his youngest son Dirk VYNCKE carried on leading the family company. The Oil Crisis of 1973 was an ideal opportunity seized by Dirk, allowing VYNCKE to become a global player turning biomass and waste into green and clean energy.

After 30 years of strong steady growth around the globe, 2002 saw the fourth generation of VYNCKE take over the reins and now Peter and Dieter VYNCKE continue to write the story of the family business with an inextinguishable passion for biomass, fire, energy and people around the world ... in good times and in bad.
